The story of Attender
Okay maybe it was not quite as dramatic that the idea came on a dark and stormy night. But we have for a long time had a dream to make an attandance registration tool that uses new technology. And not just attendance registration that is a digital version of an old check box piece of paper.
Many has by now grown up with some sort of it in their daily life. Whether it was a mainframe, Commodore 64, iPhone or similar. So that means there are new opportunities.
We want to take the best from modern tech and spice it with gamification so students have a carrot to chase. That is why we made Attender. And this is the story of Attender.
The Attender idea starts
After 20+ years of making solutions for education and schools. We found that there was a need for a new and smarter system for attendance registration. As many of today systems are old fashioned, slow and honestly – really boring. And we wanted to use modern tech like gamification, AI and online solutions.
The Attender idea really took off in March 2020 when most of the world got hit by Covid-19. This meant a lot of learning went online and there was an even greater need for a flexible attendance registration solution.
Research among many school types
We have talked to all kinds of schools. From primary school and all the way up to universities to know more of their pains regarding attendance registration. And we have used our international network as well.
We showcases a preview version at a early conference for danish schools in Fynen. That gaves us valuable feedback.
Danish innovation fund picks Attender!
Attender was chosen by the danish innovation fund, Innobooster. This means they have seen great potential for Attender not only in Denmark but Worldwide.
That makes us a little bit proud…
Interns as reinforcements
In january 2021 we welcomed to interns, Marc & Mikkel as part of our collaboration with EA Dania gaming academy.
We thank them for their help and inputs to Attender.
Attender is its own company
We started making Attender in our Aros Cloud company. But to make the message of Attender easier, it now has its own company.
Microsoft really likes the Attender idea, so they have chosen us to be part of their Microsoft for Startups program.
This gives us a lot of help with development, security and hosting. Thanks to Microsoft for their support.
The fastest snail
Everything is much easier when it feels like a game and not a boring chore. That is why we wanted Attender to feel more like a game.So we made a development collaboration with gaming experts, Setsnail.
Setsnail has many years of experience with gamification, games and helping large companies like Google, Ikea, DHL and more.
Attender is officially Live
Finally is Attender version 1.0 and Attenders website live! We have however cheated a little bit, since Attender was already up and running at the first school.
We thought it would be better to launch Attender when we knew it was in use and working well.
Microsoft Teams app
Attender is now launched in Microsoft Teams. Not only can you now use Attender in Teams. But Attender can also make automatic registration when you have online classes.
Biggest update ever with Attender 1.4
We have worked hard to launch Attender for iOS and Android.
And lots of gamification has come to students with Coins, Streaks and Badges.
Number 1 in Denmark on the Teams Store
We’re super proud to be the subscribed app on the Microsoft Teams App Store in August 2023.
